Default Ectoplasm - using Expert Salvage Kit

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...207#post361207

According to the PRIMA Guide, there are certain "Collectible Drops" that can yield rare materials, only if you use an Expert Salvage Kit. I'm not sure how true this is, but I extracted the info for a quick guide. Maybe someone can say if they have successfully extracted Ecto from these items.

Here is a list of what materials you will get if you use an Expert Kit (very rare chance)

Globs of Ectoplasm (or Glittering Dust)
Ancient Eyes (Wilds Beholder)
Demonic Remains (Rift Nightmare)
Ghostly Remains (Ruins of Ascalon Ghost)
Phantom Residues (Rift Ghost)
Shadowy Remnants (Krytan Nightmare)
Stormy Eyes (Ruins of Ascalon Beholder)

Leather Squares (or Tanned Hides)
Half-Digested Masses (any)
Half-Eated Blobs (any)
Leather Belts (Krytan Human)
Worn Belts (Human-standard)

Steel (Note: If the expert does not work you will get what is next to it)
Swords (Iron)
Axes - (Wood Planks or Iron) Less Cleavers, Hatchets will give Granite Slabs only
Hammers - (Wood Planks or Iron) Ettin Hammer will give Granite Slabs only
Rods - (Iron)
Staffs - (ONLY the Wrathful Staff will give Steel. The rest will yield Iron)
Shields - (Iron) Less Crude, Militia, Wooden will give Wood Planks only

Charcoal (or Granite Slabs)
Glowing Hearts (Krytan Imp)

Sections of Ivory(or Bones)
Minotaur Horns (Crystal Desert Minotaur)

I've expertly salvaged more Phantom Residues and Demonic Remains than you could ever dream of owning, and never once have I gotten a Glob of Ectoplasm. I'm almost postitive that it's impossible to salvage it, but I haven't tried all the other stuff.

Until someone posts a screen capture of their expert salvage, I think this is solidly a Prima guide myth. The guide has many inaccuracies in it; no big surprise that this is wrong.

Maybe, for some odd reason, you need to extract ecto with a standard salvage kit instead of an expert one. It's just the sort of thing a wiseguy game developer would do.

After reading this, I salvaged around 750 Demonic Remains, nothing else but glittering dust.

I wish you could craft ecto. Even if it required like 5 components in large quantities.

I'm going to have to say prima guide myth on this one too. I just went through 550 Demonic remains and now have 2750 glittering dust and only the 9 ecto I started with.

However, I now have that whole glittering dust thing in hand for the next year or so.

Oh, well maybe it is a myth then, somebody wrote that he/her gotta ecto by salvaging it :S
Anyway, i think u can really gett many sort of stuff from one salvage iteam, not that u willl gett a shard from a Ebony Spider Leg.. But other stuff like linen, fur and more
Thats what i belive....

Heres a link i use for most of my salvaging, sorry that it's from another site

http://www.gwonline.net/page.php?p=90

Hope this helps people, and yes chances are small of getting a more rare item, but it does occasionally happen
